The BFI is seeking a Coordinator to assist with the day-to-day running and coordination of the Future Takes Fund, with responsibilities covering application process up to full project selection and contacting. 

The BFI and Film4 Future Takes Fund offers support for higher-budget live action, short form work from teams of writers, directors and producers based in the UK.  This will be the second round of the fund, after supporting nine short films in the pilot round in 2022-2024. The fund will open for applications in October and will support six films in production between April 2026 until March 2027. This project is driven by our shared desire to support audacious emerging talent to have sustainable, and remarkable, careers.

The Coordinator will provide full support to the BFI Filmmaking Fund and BFI NETWORK teams across the 2025/27 Future Takes production fund. 

Role details

Fixed Term Contract: until 31 March 2027 

Please note this is a full-time role until March 2026, then it will reduce to 2 days per week: 

  • October 2025 – March 2026 full time (1.0 FTE) 
  • April 2026 – March 2027 two days p/w (0.4FTE)

Role responsibilities
  • Act as a first point of contact for Future Takes Fund enquiries, providing information, advice and guidance as required and making referrals to other members of the team where relevant 
  • Supporting any internal and external event coordination relating to the Fund 
  • Responsibility for all fund administration, including full support of the Filmmaking Fund team and BFI NETWORK, and close working with BFI NETWORK and Film Fund coordinators regarding diary management for relevant fund meetings including regular partner meetings with Film4 
  • To coordinate the basic running of the Future Takes Fund, setting timetables and liaising with colleagues in the OPPs and web teams to publish updated materials where needed, and oversee the closing of the Fund.  
Person specifications
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role including experience in film and TV production    for example – experience liaising with Heads of department and / or financiers on active productions and practical experience such as overseeing progress of productions by reviewing and reporting on call sheets & progress reports.   
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a funding organisation and managing fund databases 
  • Proven experience working on large projects and/or event management with demonstrable experience in overseeing complex work timelines  
  • Proven experience working with multiple partners across projects 
  • Demonstrable understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by emerging UK film talent
