Get ready for the greatest song and dance season ever to grace UK cinema screens

This year’s BFI blockbuster season is Musicals – the greatest song and dance season ever to grace UK cinema screens!

Alongside a major season at BFI Southbank, UK-wide BFI releases, one-off special events and more, from October 2019 to January 2020 we will be running a nationwide tour as part of BFI Musicals.

Our menu of films offers you some of the world’s most acclaimed and classic musicals as well as underseen titles ripe for discovery, celebrating their incredible artistry, spectacle and style:

Guys & Dolls (Joseph L. Mankiewicz, 1955)

Star is Born (George Cukor, 1954)

Yentl (Barbra Streisand, 1983)

Calamity Jane (David Butler, 1953) – singalong version

Cabaret (Bob Fosse, 1972)

Carousel (Henry King, 1956)

Cabin in the Sky (Vincente Minnelli, 1943)

Top Hat (Mark Sandrich, 1935)

The Singing Lovebirds (Masahiro Makito, 1939)

Pakeezah (Kamal Amrohi, 1972)

Sweet Charity (Bob Fosse, 1969)

You can also apply to Film Hub Midlands, the cross-FAN lead for BFI Major Programmes, for funding to support additional activities around your screenings.
