About the role

Acting as an ‘XR Host’ as part of Sheffield DocFest 2024 Alternate Realities Exhibition for the duration of the Festival run at Site Gallery, Sheffield 12th – 17th June, 2024). The XR Hosts are pivotal to the delivery of a positive visitor experience.They greet and welcome guests to the exhibitions, support them in interacting with exhibits and related technology, and are responsible for supervising and maintaining the spaces.

Contract tenure:

12 to 17 June 2024
Option to extend to support exhibition extension between 20 June and 13 July
Total days: 8 (extension 20 days total)

Location:

Sheffield and festival locations, primarily Site Gallery

Key responsibilities

  • To onboard and offboard guests into experiences, using any scripts as detailed by the DocFest Production team making sure the guest have the correct audio levels on headphones and ensuring kit is working correctly for them
  • To support the Volunteers in onboarding and offboarding guests in the same manner
  • To attend the dedicated training session with the Alternate Realities Production team
  • To act as front of house, greeting guests where appropriate, outlining detail on the pieces and providing good customer service levels as needed
  • To assist the Alternate Realities Production Team and Venue Coordinator in providing support for the Alternate Realities Exhibition where needed, flagging issues for attention in a calm, professional and methodical manner.
  • To assist the Volunteers with any technical issues that may arise where appropriate, and escalating to the Alternate Realities Production Technicians where necessary
  • To ensure XR equipment, Headphones and other batteries are on charge and swapped out regularly as agreed between sessions.
  • To lead on morning setup and checks (as scheduled), ensuring that all works are up and running and optimised, and technical elements are switched on and off at the start and end of each day.
  • To adhere to Site Gallery safety requirements, assisting with maintaining clear walkways, proactively tidying as required,and maintain cleanliness and hygiene
    standards of the space and the exhibits
  • To monitor visitors interactions with exhibits, ensuring care is taken of artists works, and problems are quickly identified
