Screen25 is an independent community cinema in the heart of South Norwood. We offer a welcoming space for audiences to come together as a community and enjoy the latest independent and mainstream films, enhanced by Q&As, panel discussions, shorts and much more!

We’re planning our re-opening in January 2021, with a new venue, and continuation of our twice-weekly events on Wednesdays and Fridays (approx. 5.45pm – 10.45pm).

We are looking for two projectionists to join our volunteer team and manage the technical setup of our events, alongside monitoring the playback of our films. The commitment is around 2-3 shifts per month (approximately 10-15 hours).

We operate within a shared space, meaning equipment needs to be reset every time we host an event. We screen digitally, switching between a BluRay player and digital files on a laptop using a HDMI switcher and video monitor. We currently use an Epson 2,500 lumen projector and project directly onto the wall of the auditorium. Necessary training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Set up and pack-down; temporary installation of projector, playback equipment and
• microphones;
• Operating equipment during events, including projector, microphones and lights;
• Liaising with the Event Manager to ensure that content runs smoothly and has been
• tested in advance, and that the programme runs to schedule;
• Troubleshooting technical problems as they occur, with minimal delay;
• Ensuring that equipment is stored safely and securely at the end of each event.

Person specification

• Enthusiastic, with a passion for film and cinema projection;
• Basic working knowledge of projectors and sound desks;
• Problem solving skills, with a solution-driven attitude
• Proficiency with computers – both mac & PC;
• The ability to work quickly, and on your own initiative;
• Good communication skills;
• Flexibility to work evenings (specifically Wednesdays) and/or weekends and/or
• occasional daytimes.
