Glasgow Film Festival is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator, managing a team of 140+ volunteers. This will include recruitment, training and scheduling of the volunteers, and making sure they have the best possible experience.
The Volunteer Coordinator will ensure that GFF’s volunteer programme adheres to the organisation’s wider volunteer framework, and helps to deliver on our mission of Cinema For All. They will work with our Community Engagement Coordinator to ensure our opportunities are available to as wide a network as possible, and identify ways in which the volunteer programme can support our ongoing commitment to reach and develop new audiences from isolated communities.
This is a fun but busy role which would be suitable for a people person who is experienced in managing teams in a front of house environment, and is looking for experience in events, festivals and the creative industries.

- Fixed term: 18 November 2024 – 28 March 2025
Role responsibilities:
- Research and identify ways to support applicants in overcoming any perceived barriers to volunteering at GFF, including widening our recruitment networks, reviewing the processes through an intersectional lens and identifying areas for improvement
- Update volunteer recruitment process, timeline and information packs
- Work with existing Community and Front of House teams to create an integrated volunteer experience
- Using the festival database to process all applications, shortlist and select the best candidates, and match their skills to volunteer positions
- Liaise with the wider festival teams to confirm volunteer roles and requirements
- Design and deliver volunteer induction and training sessions and health and safety briefings
- Communicate effectively with festival team, duty managers and volunteers
- Deal directly with the public, providing information and resolving queries
- Motivate and support volunteers to work together to ensure high quality customer experience at all times
- Liaise with festival and box office teams to ensure smooth running of events
- Collate volunteer feedback at the end of the festival
- Manage evaluation process of volunteers and volunteer programme
