Salary: £31,601 per annum + 10% commission on private hire net revenue
Mockingbird Cinema is looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Cinema Manager to oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the cinema and both bars.
Mockingbird Cinema is an independent two-screen venue located in the heart of Birmingham’s Custard Factory. Alongside our diverse film programme, we operate two fully licensed bars and host a wide range of private hires, community screenings, and special events. We’re passionate about cinema, hospitality, and creating a welcoming, creative space for all.
Role details
- Permanent
- 40 hours p/week. Some of these may be evening and weekend
- A full UK Driving Licence and access to a car is essential for this role. This is because collecting stock will be a key part of your duties.
Role responsibilities
- Overseeing daily operations of the cinema, two bars, and front-of-house
- Ingesting, testing, and scheduling film content (DCPs, Blu-rays, digital files)
- Managing and delivering private hire bookings, from enquiry through to event delivery
- Leading and supervising staff teams, including rotas and performance support
- Maintaining high customer service standards throughout the venue
- Managing stock levels, supplier orders, bar licensing compliance, and hygiene standards
- Collecting deliveries and stock offsite (vehicle use required)
- Liaising with distributors and film programmers
- Supporting in-venue marketing and promotional activity
Person specifications
- Proven experience in cinema, hospitality, or events management
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Confidence with AV/film projection systems (or willingness to be trained)
- Excellent customer service and communication
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car
- A proactive, hands-on approach and flexible attitude to working evenings and weekends
