Usher

Salary: £18,198 pro rata

Hebden Royd Town Council is seeking to recruit one or two committed, motivated Ushers to join their Front of House Team at the Hebden Bridge Picture House.

Hours: 3 to 12 hours per week (four shifts available)

Post grade: SCP 2 – £18,198 pro rata (equivalent to £9.46 per hour uplifted to the real Living Wage, currently £9.50 per hour)

The successful candidate will work regular hours each week plus be flexible to work additional hours, covering other staff members’ hours on a casual basis for holiday and sickness absence and working a share of additional shifts e.g. matinees during school holidays, shifts needing additional ushers.

The role

Responsible for serving the public at film screenings and live events at the Picture House, under the supervision of the Duty Manager, the Usher role’s duties include:

• ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all patrons of the cinema.
• selling food, drink and merchandise via the kiosk and bar, selling tickets, memberships and gift vouchers, cashing up and stock replenishment.
• working as part of the front of house team to ensure that all the Front of House standards for the Hebden Bridge Picture House are fulfilled.
• liaising with our customers both face to face and over the telephone.
• playing a part in ensuring Licensing Legislation, Health & Safety Legislation and Security procedures are adhered to, including cleaning routines each shift to ensure excellent hygiene standards.

We are looking for someone who is friendly and polite, organised, self-motivated, industrious, flexible, reliable, honest and has an excellent level of attention to detail.   As alcohol sales are involved you must be over 18 years of age. Full training will be given.

The four permanent shifts offered are Wednesday Evening, Saturday Matinee, Sunday Matinee and Sunday Teatime.  Shifts are of an average 3 hour duration, but longer film screenings / live arts broadcasts can enhance the working hours to 4 or 5 hour shifts on occasion, where overtime is paid.  Shift start times are usually Mornings: 10am, Matinees: 1pm, Teatimes: 4pm, Evenings: 6.30pm / 7pm but can vary by as much as an hour.
