Tyneside Cinema is one of the UK’s leading independent cinemas. We originally opened as a news theatre in 1937, and now deliver a rich and diverse programme of film, events and learning activities and welcomes 500,000 people into the building every year. We are a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, and have established a trading company that operates our 3 on-site catering outlets.
Tyneside Cinema is looking for trustees to join our Board and help guide the charity through its next phase of development – diversifying our programme, our audiences and expanding our trading activities.
We want to broaden our Board’s skills base, knowledge and networks and are seeking people who can provide scrutiny, support and challenge as we move ahead.
We’re particularly interested in candidates who have expertise in the following areas:
- Finance and accounting (operational)
- Digital marketing and data
- Creative industries
- We are also committed to increasing the diversity of the Board and recruiting Trustees who are currently under-represented, especially from a BAME background.
The role of the Trustee is voluntary. Meetings take place bi-monthly, rotating between formal and informal, and attendance at key events is encouraged. Travel expenses can be reimbursed for Trustees living outside of the North East.
We are looking to appoint 3 trustees either over late summer/autumn 2018, or into early 2019.
