Trustees

Storyhouse

Chester

Salary: Unpaid

Storyhouse is seeking to appoint a new trustee to its board of trustees, which is led by chair Peter Mearns and which offers governance and strategic leadership to our organisation.

Storyhouse is one of the country’s leading and most innovative new cultural organisations, welcoming a remarkable 1 million customers through the doors of its new building in Chester, in its first year. It was officially opened in June by Her Majesty the Queen and The Duchess of Sussex.

We are substantial theatre and cross art form producers, and we also run the country’s most exciting new library. We are also based in a beautiful heritage city however in our region there is also significant and overlooked deprivation, lack of opportunity and investment. We strive to have a more normal conversation about culture and our work is often made with our communities, with whom we provide over 2,000 sessions a year to marginalised groups.

We are keen to strengthen our work by placing creative diversity even further at the heart of our artistic processes and are looking to appoint a new board member who can challenge and inspire us. You will be an artist, manager, practitioner or advocate with significant experience in this field.

This is a great opportunity at an exciting time as we look to build on our initial success and look to the future. Anyone over 18 is both eligible and welcome.

If you would like to discuss this role first then please do contact either Chair Peter Mearns (peter.mearns@storyhouse.com) or CEO Andrew Bentley (andrew.bentley@storyhouse.com) to arrange a discussion.
