The Sheffield Media and Exhibition Centre (Showroom Workstation) is seeking a new Trustee with broad ranging knowledge and experience of HR to join their Board and work alongside their team to help shape the future of the organisation.

About  Sheffield Media and Exhibition Centre

Sheffield Media and Exhibition Centre is a charity operating Showroom cinema and Workstation creative industries business centre.

We operate one of the largest cultural cinemas in the UK, alongside catering and conferencing facilities and the Workstation managed workspace centre. We exhibit a diverse film programme with first run and retrospectives of curated work, including archive, documentaries, and many unique one-off programmes with regular visiting film makers.

About the role

We are seeking a new Trustee with broad ranging knowledge and experience of HR to join our Board and work alongside our team to help shape the future of the organisation.

Applicants will work with the Chair, Chief Executive and Senior Management Team to provide clear strategic direction to the organisation, helping to agree policy, define goals, set targets and evaluate performance.

We are looking for applicants with HR experience as they will also be a key member of our Employment Sub Committee of the Board of Trustees, so knowledge in this area is crucial.

They will also need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a good understanding of local, regional and cultural agendas.

We need people who can spare the time to attend approximately 6 meetings per year (usually held on the last Monday of the month, 6 pm – 8 pm) occasional meetings of our Employment Sub-Committee (2-3 meetings per year plus additional meetings when required) and to offer relevant support and specialist knowledge to enable us to meet the objectives of our business.

The post is not paid but all Trustees receive invitations to special events and have a weekly allocation of free cinema tickets.
