Spotlight Project Facilitator (Newry and Mourne)

Film Hub NI

Newry and Mourne

Salary: £25,641 - £28,539 per annum pro rata

Do you have a love of cinema, and a love of community? Do you want to increase the reach of independent cinema in Northern Ireland? Film Hub NI, part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network, based at the Queen’s Film Theatre require a motivated and committed creative manager to deliver SPOTLIGHT.

About SPOTLIGHT

SPOTLIGHT is a new initiative which has been funded by the BFI National Lottery to enable Film Hub NI to work at a more local level to develop the capacity and confidence of cinemas and community organisations and to support them in putting on screenings of a wide range of film for local audiences. Film Hub NI will work closely with Newcastle Community Cinema to deliver this project.

Over 28 months (2023 to 2026), Spotlight will focus on nurturing partnerships and capacity building, along with facilitating the direct delivery of public screenings and events with local organisations. Our ambition is for this intervention to make a visible difference and that after this period there will be a sustainable plan in place for ongoing screening activity.

The work will be hands on and intensively developmental and we are now looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to work with Film Hub NI on delivering this exciting new project.

Role objectives and outcomes

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to shape plans for the project but overall, the Spotlight project should achieve the following objectives and outcomes:

  • New screening activity, where currently there is little or none.
  • An increase in the range of films on offer, where choice is currently limited.
  • Partnerships with local authorities, community groups and other organisations as appropriate.
  • New organisations or developments (e.g. film festivals, film societies, pop up cinemas).
  • Local delivery partners equipped and empowered to continue work after the Spotlight concludes.

Across the 28 months of activity, Spotlight will be delivered in Newry and Mourne, with an area roughly bounded between Banbridge, Newry, Dunnaval and Dundrum. The successful candidate will ideally be based in the area, working with Film Hub NI and Newcastle Community Cinema to deliver activity.

Skills and experience

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English and Maths or NVQ Level 2 Administration.
  • Relevant experience in event delivery, marketing or audience development to include: Social media marketing, events management, experience of outreach in a community setting.

Please note the above are not an exhaustive list. For further information about the role including the essential and desirable criteria please visit the Queen’s University Belfast website.
