The BFI are seeking a Senior Executive to lead on successful delivery of National Lottery supported Film Fund investments to the marketplace and to our UK and international audiences.

Fixed Term Contract: 3 years

Working closely with senior managers across the BFI, this role provides oversight and joint approval of Film Fund lottery investment decisions, including approval of sales, distribution and commercial strategies for all Film Fund backed lottery projects, as well as strategic input into production related BFI-wide economic and international industry activity.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee UK and international sales and distribution plans for Film Fund films in conjunction with producers and co-financiers to ensure all agreed plans maximise audience in the UK and key territories internationally.
  • Lead on international and distribution strategy for Film Fund projects, including leading on the appointment of sales agencies and approving the sales strategy, proposed distribution offers, marketing materials, and launch strategy.
  • Work with Head of Production Finance to manage commercial detail of Film Fund investments, including tracking sales, costs and revenues post launch to forecast recoupment and exploitation as accurately as possible.
  • Support Production Finance to maximise income from all BFI film’s together with the development and maintenance of a database of distributors and sales agents.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Significant experience in film acquisitions, sales, distribution, production or production finance background.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of worldwide distribution companies, streamers, sales agents, markets and festivals.
  • Proven track record of seeing feature films through the finance, sales and release cycle.
  • Experience in attending international markets and festivals to progress production and sales of independent films.
  • Strong international contacts with the ability to independently build on these to effectively deliver results.
