Rights & Contracts Officer

Salary: £30,141 - £35,622 per annum
The BFI is seeking a Rights & Contracts Officer to join their team.
The postholder will work within the Rights & Contracts team and with the Sales, Programme & Acquisitions, Digital, and Finance teams to enter rights information and contractual terms in BFI systems and to provide administrative and contractual support for the BFI’s commercial and online activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate contractual terms, draft and secure execution of agreements with licensees, rights holders and other third parties for film and TV sales and acquisitions.
- Record rights information and the terms of contracts on the rights & royalties database.
- To perform data cleaning and reconciliation work in connection with the rights & royalties system.
- Produce and compile progress reports on the status of ongoing negotiations in connection with the BFI’s releasing activities as well as rights availability and expiry reports.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable knowledge of: contract management and drafting, copyright law and principles.
- Strong research skills; ability to formulate and carry out an effective search strategy.
- Proven experience of providing detailed progress reports and other reports relating to rights clearances.
- Proven experience of using a rights database or cataloguing system and recording and correcting information in such systems.
