Regional Marketing Manager - Blue Jean

Salary: £2,000 fee

Altitude Film Distribution are looking for a Regional Marketing Manager based in Newcastle or the Tyneside area who is passionate about independent cinema to help us amplify the reach and awareness of their upcoming release of Georgia Oakley’s Blue Jean in cinemas from 10 February.

About the Role

Set in England’s North East in 1988, Blue Jean takes place as Thatcher’s Conservative government are about to pass a law stigmatizing gays and lesbians, forcing Jean, a lesbian PE teacher, to live a double life. As pressure mounts from all sides, the arrival of a new girl at school catalyses a crisis that will challenge Jean to her core.

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who can identify marketing opportunities for the film across conventional media, below-the-line marketing, and grassroots outreach across Newcastle and the wider Tyneside area. This marketing manager will be proactive in their approach to reach both our primary 30+ female- skewing audience, and 18-30 and LGBT+ audiences on a local level that is authentic to the film.

This role is a fixed term contract of 6 weeks at 20 hours per week, beginning 4 January and running through to mid-February.

Responsibilities

• Arranging and managing marketing opportunities in Newcastle and the wider Tyneside area such as organising events/screenings, engaging local influencers, partnering with local businesses and arts and culture organisations, and arranging below-the-line marketing.
• Identifying, booking, and managing local advertising opportunities.
• Liaising with local cinemas direct to increase the film’s visibility at those sites.
• Management of regional marketing budget.
• Working with the Altitude marketing team to amplify the reach of our national campaign.

Skills needed

• Experience and understanding of developing and delivering marketing campaigns in the local area.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• An active knowledge of the cinema landscape in Newcastle and the North East, preferably with established relationships with key cinemas.
• Effective time management.
• Creative thinking to identify bespoke opportunities for engaging audiences with the film.

Fee

£2000 — This role is a fixed term contract of 6 weeks at 20 hours per week.
