The Forum Cinema in Hexham is looking for a Projectionist to join their team on a part-time basis.

Job Purpose

To ensure that all aspects of daily projection run smoothly.

  • To ensure that all film screenings are projected with optimum visual and audio.
  • To ensure customers have the best Forum experience possible through customer service and Café Bar work.
  • To assist the rest of the team in ensuring the cinema is clean and safe.
Main Duties

Projection

  • Operate projection, sound, and lighting equipment to deliver a high standard of film presentation.
  • Manage the reception, storage & use of Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) and Key Delivery Messages (KDMs) according to the required delivery & collection procedures.
  • Build and schedule playlists.
  • Test film content to ensure optimum quality when projected.
  • Assist in the technical operation for one-off events such as Q&A sessions, speaker led presentations and live performances.
  • Follow problem solving procedures including liaising with external tech support and recording any faults.
  • Monitor and respond to emails received via the projection mailbox.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the projection room & its equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with the Projection & Facilities Manager, and the other projection staff.
  • Inspect and maintain projection & sound equipment in the projection room & auditorium.

Customer Service/Café Bar

  • Offer friendly and helpful customer service, including taking and fulfilling food and drinks orders in the Café Bar.
  • Put through sales of tickets, food and drinks.
  • Answer telephone enquiries.
  • Help clean the cinema to ensure it is safe and presentable for staff and customers.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Carry out any task delegated by the shift’s Duty Manager.
Person Specification

Experience & Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of digital projection.
  • A working knowledge of windows based computers.
  • A working knowledge of Web User Interfaced servers.
  • A working knowledge of office based software such as email, word, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Experience of 35mm film projection.
  • Experience of operating sound equipment and microphones.
  • Experience of working under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Experience of customer service and handling cash.

Job Details

Location: Forum Cinema, 8-9 Market Place, Hexham, Northumberland, NE46 1XF

Contract: Permanent part-time contract.

Hours of Employment

During school term time

Friday – approx. 16:30 – 21:30 (2 screenings)

Saturday – approx. 12:30 – 21:30 (3 screenings)

During school holidays

Friday – approx. 12:30 – 21:30 (3 screenings)

Saturday – approx. 12:30 – 21:30 (3 screenings)

Plus cover shifts if and when needed.

The above hours are approximate and depending on and subject to film lengths, start times and number of screenings.
