Projectionist

Salary: £9.07 per hour

Forum Cinema Hexham is looking for a technically minded and computer savvy film lover to join our team of projectionists.

Job purpose

• To ensure that all aspects of daily projection run smoothly
• To ensure that all film screenings are projected with optimum visual and audio
• To ensure customers have the best Forum experience possible through customer service and Café Bar work
• To assist the rest of the team in ensuring the cinema is clean and safe

Core weekly working pattern: approx. 18 hours a week from July and then approx. 24 hours a week from September

• Saturdays – approx. 12:45-21:45*
• Sundays or Wednesdays – approx. 12:45-21:45*
• (From September) Fridays – approx. 15:45-21:45*
• Plus cover shifts if and when needed

Main duties

Projection:

• Operate projection, sound, and lighting equipment to deliver a high standard of film presentation
• Ingest DCPs and KDMs onto projection server
• Build and schedule playlists using bespoke cinema management software
• Ensure the correct trailers are shown before films
• Manage and follow film delivery and collection procedures
• Communicate with rest of projection team to ensure a smooth hand over between shifts
• Assist in the technical operation for one-off events such as Q&As
• Follow problem solving procedure including liaising with external tech support and recording any faults

Customer service/Café Bar:

• Offer friendly and helpful customer service in our Café Bar
• Taking orders and serving food and drinks orders in our Café Bar
• Operate tills to put through sales of tickets and food and drink
• Answer telephone enquiries
• Help clean the cinema to ensure it is safe and presentable for staff and customers
• Participate in staff meetings
• Carry out any task delegated by the shift’s Duty Manage

Person specification

Experience & qualifications

• Experience of digital and 35mm projection
• Experience of operating sound equipment and microphones
• Experience of working with computers, software, hardware and other technologies
• Experience of working under pressure and to deadlines
• Experience of customer service and handling cash
