About the Role
The Goethe-Institut London is looking for a Press & Public Relations Officer and Marketing Coordinator to start on 17.10.2022 (or at the earliest possible date). Until 31.12.2022, this is a part-time position of 29.25 hours per week (i.e. 75 % of our full time hours p.w.). From 01.01.2023, employment will be full-time with 39 hours per week.
The starting salary in the Goethe-Institut’s remuneration scheme will initially be £23,243 p.a. for 29.25 hours per week, until 31.12.2022. This will rise to £30,990 p.a. for full-time work, with effect from 01.01.2023. Annual Leave starts with 26 days plus Bank Holidays (pro rata). This increases depending on length of service. The Goethe-Institut also offers a contributory pension scheme.
Duties
- Coordination and support of the institute and the region Northwestern Europe (Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden) with press and public relations. The emphasis is on digital media and digital marketing
- Development, implementation and evaluation of the periodic annual communication concepts for selected core topics in consultation with the institute’s director as well as the coordination of editorial conferences, project management and implementation of communications campaigns with external agencies
- Editorial planning, management and continuous analyses of social media channels together with the online editorial team
- Coordination of and advising on online marketing activities (UX, SEO, SEA, e-mail, social media advertising, content marketing) for the promotion of the institute’s language courses in Northwestern Europe, including the coordination with agencies, participating institutes and the Goethe-Institut headquarters
- Coordination, conceptual design and implementation of general information material (print and online) as well as marketing material in compliance with the institute’s corporate design in consultation with the institute’s director
- Drafting and distribution of press releases
- Networking with British and German media and press & public relations contacts of partner organisations
- Editing various (PR) texts for web and print
Requirements
- Several years of professional experience in the field of press- and public relations, digital communications and marketing
- Experience with social media management (especially Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Experience with the conceptual design and coordination of online marketing strategies and campaigns
- Excellent communication skills and very good editorial skills
- Good knowledge of project management
- Good knowledge of the British media, cultural and educational sector
- English at native speaker level and good German language skills (B2+)
- Organisational skills
- Good IT skills (especially MS-Office, Adobe InDesign, image editing software, Canva), knowledge of CMS- or other editorial software
- Good time management skills
- Flexibility and the ability to work under pressure
