LIFF & BIFF are looking for 3 freelance, part-time, temporary Outreach Coordinators in London, Birmingham and Manchester.

The Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) and Birmingham Indian Film Festival (BIFF) together make up Europe’s largest Indian film festival. Over the last 10 years we have garnered a reputation as the ‘Punk Rock of Indian Film festivals’, presenting a cutting-edge selection of the very best new independent cinema from the Indian subcontinent and its worldwide diaspora. In 2021 we will also be launching Manchester Indian Film Festival (MIFF).

The role

Contract: January 2021 – March 2021 (part-time, flexible and remote working) // dates are subject to change due to project’s deadline

Salary: £1,000 fixed fee (for each role)

The Outreach Coordinators will be expected to:

  • Develop positive relationships with a range of people especially the South Asian and British Asian communities including residents, community leaders, women’s groups, young people, local groups and organisations and local authorities and to encourage these communities to attend the festival screenings in 2021
  • To promote the festival by face-to-face engagement, giving out town/city specific festival flyers (provided by the festival) to local communities, promote on social media activity, online, and other marketing and PR activities
  • Provide the selected communities specific creative and engagement opportunities as part of this project in the form of talks, discussions, Q&As around the screenings, in London OR Birmingham OR Manchester
  • Publicise the film festival through flyers (provided by the festival), social media and networking with residents, local groups and organisations
  • To support the festival team in the development, dissemination and collection of audience evaluation forms on the project which will help inform and support future activity
Personal Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 experience within a cinema, film festival or other cultural capacity in a outreach role
  • An energetic approach to and understanding of the need for communication with a wide range of partners, stakeholders, teams and internal and external colleagues
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills including numeracy, literacy and IT fluency
  • Understanding and awareness of a diverse range of cultures and traditions; enthusiasm to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
