Little Wing Festival are looking to hire a part-time member of staff through the Kickstart scheme.

2020 brought many challenges to the film and exhibition sector, and now we’re looking to 2021 to bring about growth and redirection for Little Wing – we’re very excited to be hiring a part-time team member for the first time!

Little Wing Film Festival is a volunteer-led organisation founded in 2017 as a way to make the film industry a more accessible and inclusive space for young people getting their foot in the door. In our first year, our handful of volunteers made a home in a small theatre above a pub in North London, screening films, running workshops, and awarding filmmakers with in-kind prizes to offer whatever we could to facilitate future projects. Since then we’ve delved further into curating opportunity pathways, championing the kinds of grassroots film we want to see in the future of film, and doing our part to make the film industry more accessible to young people from diverse backgrounds. This year we’re we’re piloting projects and ideas rooted in social impact ,and furthering our commitment to understanding how the medium of film can have a profound impact on teaching, changing minds and calling us to action.

We are a grassroots organisation with a very small, collaborative team who are familiar working with miniscule budgets. Our development and growth come about from dedication, creativity, resourcefulness and community collaborative. We are big believers in working for progress, not perfection, and want this to be a place where you can be creative, try new things, have autonomy over your projects, and learn along the way.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about film festivals, film exhibition, and the wider role film plays in impacting our society. We’re looking for someone enthusiastic about working in a supportive start-up setting and excited to be learning everything that goes into grassroots festival and event organising. • Writing blog posts, copywriting
  • Audience development and engagement
  • Festival programming and execution of Little Wing Film Festival 2021

  • Stakeholder and sponsorship development, relationship management

If there are specific areas you’re interested in, this is a flexible place where we want to make sure you are learning as much as you can, having your voice heard, and broadening your wider education and understanding of the social issues surrounding film, diversity, representation, and the power of film as a medium.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Design savvy, creative, imaginative, willing to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in

  • Passionate about social justice and curious about the role art plays in our social narrative
  • Previous work in festivals and events is desired, but not essential
  • Understands Microsoft Office, Canva, and has access to a laptop and smartphone with social apps

Don’t worry if you don’t have buckets of experience, this role would be fantastic for someone finding their feet in the creative workplace, and it would be great if you could demonstrate how you have any transferable skills and ways in which you’ve show initiative, passion, curiosity, and dedication to learning and building on ideas.
