Studio Soho Distribution is looking for an International Sales Executive to join their team.

Film Soho is the principal company for a series of boutique subsidiaries, encompassing the entire process of Film and TV content from development, production, and post-production through to distribution and international sales.

About the role

We are currently looking for an International Sales Executive on a full or part time basis to lead our international sales. The role will report to our Head of Sales & Acquisitions, helping to drive and execute an effective growth strategy and sales across the globe and identify opportunities to sell new and returning catalogue of products for both film and TV. Build and maintain close client relationships, provide market expertise and knowledge for the business, and contribute valued team qualities including passion and motivational energy. The territory footprint will be worldwide, developing strong relationships with distributors, streaming platforms, and broadcasters, to sell our in-house content.

Key responsibilities
  • Attend film/TV festivals.
  • Develop positioning/key messaging and festival strategy for slate.
  • Provide the team with sales estimates for new projects and generate sales forecasts for festivals and markets.
  • Collaborate with team on release strategies.
  • Devise awards strategies where relevant.
  • Draft, negotiate and review standard agreements for international content, both TV & film.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, and manage internal rights database.
  • Co-ordinate with finance and operations directors to efficiently manage the full sales/contract & delivery process.
  • Work with the direct reports to design, plan and execute sales to distributors, broadcasters and streaming platforms across the globe; ensuring all existing relationships are maintained whilst looking to develop new business to deliver maximum exploitation of all content.
  • Devise and implement multi-platform growth strategy to maximise presence and sales across brands whilst maintaining and renewing existing business.
  • Work with management to agree budget financials and strategy, and then deliver on in each financial year.
  • Review and assess international potential of new content acquisitions by providing feedback and sales projections. Provide input into overall distribution strategy including expert and current market feedback on titles, viable commercial targets for each project, and insight into local content trends.
  • Work with all clients through continual dialogue, to understand their key focuses, priorities, timings & deliver insight back into the business relating to their strategies, and objectives.
  • Advise our sales teams on IP and legal risks to ensure that our licensing agreements meet our corporate objectives.
Criteria

Essential

  • An established network of clients and contacts in each territory/region.
  • 2-5 years experience of selling independent films or TV content.
  • Confident and able to negotiate a contract all the way to execution stage, making decisions on appropriate action and must be able to judge when to escalate to the director.
  • Organisational skills to oversee the complex windowing of content though multiple sales cycles, maximising the value from library, and managing the region’s budget to deliver consistent growth.
  • Highly motivated, passionate about content and sales, excellent relationship skills, and driven to exceed targets.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Numerate and able to deliver clear budgets, sales estimates, financial updates and reports.
  • The ability to pitch and sell with passion and engagement, strong presentation skills. and 1st class negotiation experience.
  • Willing to travel internationally and work flexibly.
  • Understanding of television rights and underlying rights in film distribution environment.
  • Operate collaboratively in a supportive team environment.
  • Calm under pressure and able to manage busy workload.

Desirable

  • Specific and detailed knowledge of key broadcasters / platforms and their programming strategies, local market dynamics, rights / windows, emerging technologies, and local content trends.
  • Understanding of the streaming platform workflow.
  • Some experience in the field of intellectual property law would be desirable.
  • Strong sense of genres, topics and cast ‘of the moment’.
