HR Trustee

Showroom Workstation

Sheffield

Salary: Voluntary

Showroom Workstation are looking for a new Trustee, specialising in HR, to join our board of voluntary Directors.

Showroom Workstation is an independent organisation and charity and is a cultural hub for South Yorkshire and the North of England.
Located in a converted 1930’s art deco building, the venue is home to a four-screen cinema, creative business centre, event space, and café bar, in the heart of Sheffield city centre, in South Yorkshire.

We are looking for a new Trustee, specialising in HR, to join our board of voluntary Directors. This is a unique opportunity to join a creative and passionate team and help shape the future of the organisation.

We operate one of the largest cultural cinemas in the UK, exhibiting a diverse film programme with first run and retrospectives of curated work, including archive, documentaries, and many unique oneoff programmes with regular visiting film makers.

We also run the Workstation managed workspace centre, specialising in creative and digital industries, and operate a successful bar, café and conferencing facilities.

Our Trustees work closely with the Chair, Chief Executive and Senior Management Team to provide clear strategic direction to the organisation, helping to agree policy, define goals, set targets and evaluate performance.
We are particularly looking for applicants with a HR qualification, CIPD or equivalent, as they will also have a key role as Chair of our Employment Sub Committee of the Board of Trustees. However, if you don’t have this particular area of expertise but still feel you have something to offer, please still get in touch.

As with all our Trustees, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a good understanding of local, regional, and cultural agendas.

Trustees are required to attend approximately 6 Board meetings per year (usually held on the last Monday of the month, 6 pm – 8 pm) plus this role would also attend meetings of our Employment Sub-Committee (usually 2-3 meetings per year) and to offer relevant support and specialist knowledge to enable us to meet the objectives of our business.

The post is not paid but all Trustees receive invitations to special events and have a weekly allocation of free cinema tickets.
We are very proud to have been recognised since 2017 to the national standard of Investors in Diversity and we welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates to ensure our board continues to be fully representational.
