Salary: £60,000 per annum

Doc Society is looking for a senior experienced film executive based in the UK who will operate strategically across all of Doc Society’s film work, strengthening the work of their grantees, implementing their renewed mission statement across all of our programmes, and advocating for the role of independent feature documentary globally.

Internal responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a strategic overview of all the creatives we are supporting at any one time, and identifying where there is opportunity for cross fertilization / collaboration between our grantees and our programmes.
  • Contribute to decision making across all our current and future grants and training programmes including BFI Doc Society Fund, Climate Fund, New Perspective Fund & Good Pitch.
  • Support specific Doc Society grantees editorially, as well as identifying potential creative allies and new funding & distribution partners for those projects.
  • Review of all filmmaker selection processes to facilitate greater equity and accessibility.

External roles:

  • We believe in the power of documentary film: you will help build the profile of documentary film in the UK and advocate for its cultural value with key stakeholders. Advocate for more resources and a seat at the table for documentary filmmakers with the government, our funders and stakeholders, and other allies.
  • We believe in community building: you will help develop Doc Society’s field-building initiatives in the UK; from supporting new networks of producers & BIPOC filmmakers to mentoring emergent creative organisations and connecting them to new allies & funders.
  • We believe in collaboration: you will help develop strategic partnerships within the UK film & TV industry including fellow international film funders, leading film festivals, broadcasters, legal and insurance partners amongst others.
