Screen Scotland are looking for a Head of Education to join their team.

About the role

Screen Scotland has an ambitious remit to develop and grow the film and TV sectors in Scotland. The Head of Education – Screen will provide strategic leadership for the specialism in support of Creative Scotland’s 10-year plan, Unlocking Potential, Embracing Ambition, primarily through embedding an understanding of film and TV culture and practice in Scotland’s school age population. This will be achieved through strong and positive relationships within education, screen industries and Government, ensuring up to date specialist knowledge and expertise of both screen culture and practice in Scotland, across the UK and internationally.

Reporting to the Director of Screen, the post-holder will lead the initiation, development, delivery, management, promotion and co-ordination of Screen Scotland’s education work, supported by the Film Education Officer. The role will promote the development of film and moving image education across key contexts, including but not limited to schools and teacher education, film access organisations, cinemas and festivals, public libraries, higher and further education, working closely with colleagues in Screen Scotland and Creative Scotland and with strategic national partners and funded organisations.

  • Salary: £41,934-£52,230 (Grade D) plus pension and benefits
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Full-time: 36 hours per week
About you

We are looking for a driven, strategic thinker who can advocate persuasively for film, TV and moving image to be further woven into the fabric of school age children’s education. We are seeking a candidate who will deliver a programme in partnership with the education sector, in order that Scotland’s young people can fully engage with film, TV and the moving image and, in so doing, develop creative thinking and expression, awareness of the role of storytelling in a variety of social and media contexts and how screen practices can be part of a wide range of careers.

Location

Further opportunities to discuss working arrangements, for example hybrid working/location, will be offered. Must be in a commutable distance to a Creative Scotland office (we have offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh).
