About Abbeygate Cinema
A unique independent business, combining a three screen Cinema with a locally renowned restaurant, within the popular market town of Bury St Edmunds, is looking for a new head chef to help drive the business forward. Our current head chef is operating at a high level and has been with us for 10 years but a change of circumstance has allowed him to pursue another path in life. This is a small but serious operation, with a well-trained FOH team, and a talented and driven kitchen team.
About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an energetic head chef who wants a good balance between work and life and to work in an already established business with a solid culinary reputation. You’ll work 5 days a week, working 45 hours per week, with no split shifts providing a consistent routine. We are looking for someone who lives and breathes local, seasonal & fantastic quality produce. We need a chef who is capable of delivering an ever changing small but very well put together menu consistently well. We will ask a lot from this person, however in return we can offer the opportunity to work alongside an owner and a General Manager who are genuinely passionate about the business, who will support you to ensure you excel in your role. Further to a competitive salary dependent on experience, starting from £28,000, as well as a profit share in the business giving you real ownership. This is a permanent post.
We are looking for someone to come in and help maintain the sense of identity that marks our restaurant out. Whether that is putting your own stamp on our existing style or bringing your own identity, we are looking for someone to help us continue to stand out. The uniqueness of this business means that you could be catering for events or creating specialist menus for functions, as well as our usual restaurant menu. Other responsibilities include managing the team on a daily basis, ordering stock and keeping a safe and clean kitchen up to the required standards.
