Montrose LandxSea Film Festival is seeking a Guest Liaison & Festival Assistant to join their team in the lead-up to their 2nd annual festival in September 2024.

This is a part-time, seasonal contract position from July until the end of September.

About the festival

LandxSea is Scotland’s first environmental film festival, which launched in September 2023. Rooted in the coastal town of Montrose in North East Scotland, our festival presents an annual September weekend filled with ground-breaking climate-focused films, guest speakers, and thought-provoking discussions, along with special events throughout the year. Our focus lies in exploring the complex connections between land and sea, showcasing a diversity of environmental narratives from a multitude of global perspectives. The festival is hosted in the heart of the town at the community-owned Montrose Playhouse, a state-of-the-art multi-screen cinema & arts hub that opened in 2021. Learn more on our website.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to gain experience in the film festival industry. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth coordination of filmmakers and guest speakers for LandxSea 2024. This includes communicating screening details, coordinating travel and accommodation needs, managing itineraries and hospitality events, and supporting other tasks related to guest management. You will report to the Festival Producer and collaborate with other festival team members.

Responsibilities

  • Correspond with filmmakers and visiting guests
  • Track filmmaker and guest travel and accommodation
  • Serve as the main point of contact during the festival for answering queries from filmmakers
  • Coordinate details of itineraries and hospitality events
  • Fulfill festival hospitality and benefits packages with sponsors and partners
  • Support festival planning and production, including venue operations and volunteer coordination
  • Provide general administrative support, including database entry, mass mailings, answering phone and email queries, conducting follow-up calls, and other general tasks as required
  • Provide on-site support to the Festival team during the Festival

Requirements

  • Highly organised and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable communicating by phone and email
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient with computers and keeping documents and spreadsheets up to date
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure
  • Tech-savvy and able to quickly learn new platforms and software
  • A passion for the environment!

Desirable:

  • Based in Angus, Scotland, or with knowledge of Montrose and Angus communities
  • Experience in event planning or coordination
  • Familiarity with the film industry or film festivals

Employment Type: Part-Time Seasonal Contract (Contractor Position)
Compensation: £15/hour
Schedule: Flexible, up to 20/hours per week, with additional hours during the Festival (13-15 September 2024)
Start Date: July 2024
End Date: 27 September 2024
Location: Remote working position, with availability for meetings during agreed work hours. On-site presence required at Montrose Playhouse during the festival.
