An opportunity has arisen to appoint two permanent, part-time Front of House Assistants (18 hours per week) at Queen’s Film Theatre (QFT).

The successful candidates will undertake customer-facing Box Office, Bar and Usher duties, ensuring the provision of excellent customer service at all times.

Role responsibilities
  • Selling tickets to the public through a computerised box office system.
  • Selling memberships and Gift Cards to the public.
  • Assisting customers with QFT Membership queries.
  • Answering telephone queries from the general public, providing excellent customer service.
  • Serving cinema snacks, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages from the bar.
  • Maintaining a tidy and well stocked bar and assisting with stock controls (stock rotation & stock counts).
  • Performing daily and weekly cleaning tasks throughout the venue: bar, foyer, screens, bathrooms and Box Office, ensuring the venue and its immediate vicinity are tidy and presentable at all times.
  • Checking customer tickets and directing customers to the correct screen, assisting with any issues that may arise.
  • Performing regular screen checks, ensuring customer satisfaction and excellent cinema experience.
  • Dealing with customer enquiries efficiently and courteously and, if unable to answer, to refer them to more senior staff.
  • Assist with private hires, functions & events.
  • Conduct customer surveys when required.
  • To be compliant with all H&S requirements, evacuation procedures and follow guidance in risk assessments and event briefs.
  • Any others tasks as required by the QFT Front of House Manager and within the remit of the post
Person specifications

Essential

  • Secondary School education.
  • Minimum six months paid relevant experience of working in a customer oriented environment.
  • Experience of using EPOS systems.
  • Excellent written/ oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent personal presentation.
  • Ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.

Desirable

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) or NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. Or higher level educational qualification.
  • Six months paid experience of using a computerised Box Office system in a Cinema, Leisure or Arts Venue.
  • Experience of working in an arts venue.
  • Experience of front of house/ushering.
  • Experience of bar work.
  • An interest in film and the arts.
