London Korean Film Festival are looking for a skilled and experienced Freelance PR professional to join their team for London Korean Film Festival 2023.

As the Freelance PR, your role will involve managing and implementing a comprehensive PR strategy to promote the festival and maximize media coverage. You will work closely with the festival organizers and partners to ensure effective communication and engagement with the media.

Responsibilities:

(a) Press Releases / Announcements:

  • Create two engaging press releases/announcements with the aim of promoting the Programme Announcement. These releases should target trade publications to generate interest and awareness about the festival.

(b) Media Alerts:

  • Prepare and distribute media alerts after key screenings and premieres, ensuring captivating photography is widely circulated. These alerts should capture the essence of the film and create buzz among media outlets.

(c) Coverage in Various Media Outlets:

  • Generate coverage in mainstream press outlets, including radio, print, and online platforms such as well-regarded publications like The Guardian, BBC, and The Times.
  • Secure interviews, reviews, and listings in online publications focused on culture, art and entertaiment.
  • Engage with film press, journalists, and critics across print, online, and podcast platforms.
  • Establish connections with diverse media outlets, including radio, print, online, and podcasts, to ensure coverage and engagement with diverse communities.

(d) Handling Media Enquiries and Facilitating Interviews:

  • Act as the main point of contact for media enquiries and effectively manage communication between journalists, critics, and the festival organizers.
  • Coordinate and facilitate interviews with filmmakers, festival participants, and other key individuals, ensuring media opportunities are maximized.

(e) Invitations and Guest Lists:

  • Develop and manage guest lists for the Opening and Closing Nights, as well as any special screenings.
  • Extend invitations to key critics, media guests, and industry professionals to ensure their presence and coverage at the festival’s events.

(f) Follow-up and Monitoring Coverage:

  • Monitor media coverage of the festival and its related events, keeping track of interviews, reviews, and articles.
  • Follow up with media outlets to gather feedback, secure additional coverage, and address any concerns or questions.

(g) Reporting:

  • Provide regular reports on the progress and effectiveness of the PR campaign, increasing communication to daily updates during the peak campaign period.
  • Prepare an end-of-campaign overall report summarizing the achieved coverage, key metrics, and recommendations for future improvements.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in PR and media relations, preferably within the film or entertainment industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging press releases and effectively engage with media professionals.
  • Extensive knowledge of UK media outlets, particularly mainstream, entertainment, film, and ethnic media.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in managing media enquiries, facilitating interviews, and building relationships with journalists, critics, and influencers.
  • Familiarity with the London Korean Film Festival or a strong interest in Korean cinema is desirable but not essential.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while collaborating with a team.

This is a freelance position to start in September until the end of the November, with the possibility of extension based on performance and future requirements. The festival runs from the 2nd till the 16th of November and availability during this time is essential.
