Film Submissions Viewers

Cork Film Festival

Salary: Unpaid

Join Ireland’s first and largest film festival as part of Cork Film Festival’s pre-selection viewing team, assessing short films submitted from around the world.

Film Submissions Viewers sought

The Cork Film Festival (‘CFF’) is Ireland’s first and largest film festival – a local, national and international celebration of cinema, running for ten days in November each year in Cork City. Our mission is to connect people through great film, engaged conversation and a shared cultural experience. Every year we curate a relevant, high quality programme comprising 300+ films and events, bringing the best of the international film festival circuit to Cork, alongside new and exciting discoveries. We receive over 3,600 film submissions for consideration, all of which are reviewed and given careful consideration for potential inclusion in our programme.

Cork Film Festival is now seeking to expand its Submissions Pre-Selection Viewing Team to meet the increasing demand of film submissions.

We are looking for keen eyes with a love and knowledge of film of all genres. Perhaps you are an MA student of film, an academic, or working in the film/visual arts sector, with well-developed critical skills and a willingness to donate your time to viewing short films from across the globe.

Viewers must be able to commit to watching a minimum of assigned 20 short films per week, which will range in length from 1 minute to 35 minutes, and to rate them on the Festivals’ online submissions platform, FilmFreeway. Viewing will take place between March and August.

Please note that this is an unpaid volunteer role, with support provided by the programming team and administrator. Submitting filmmakers are not eligible to apply. Viewers are gratefully acknowledged in the Festival Brochure and Festival Website, and will receive a complimentary Season Pass to the 2019 Festival.

Applications

To apply, please submit a short CV of relevant experience and a one-page covering letter explaining your suitability as a potential CFF Viewer, to: jobs@corkfilmfest.org by 1st March. Shortlisted applicants will then be asked to review sample short films and participate in a telephone interview.

Cork Film Festival is accredited by the Academy Awards®, BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television), and the European Academy Awards. The Festival gratefully acknowledges the support of principal funder the Arts Council, along with Cork City Council, Screen Ireland, Fáilte Ireland, Screen Training Ireland, Culture Ireland, Creative Ireland and Creative Europe Media.
