Film Programmer (Part Time)

Indy Cinema Group

Edinburgh

Salary: £25,000 per annum, pro rata

Indy Cinema Group are seeking a part-time film programmer to join their Edinburgh team.

Indy Cinema Group partners with independent cinemas around the UK and abroad, and supports them with a range of services including programming, marketing and remote technical. We are growing rapidly across four countries.

We now seek a part-time film programmer to join our Edinburgh team. You will mainly be working in a very busy commercial bookings environment. Some of our partners do have cultural objectives alongside their commercial needs, so there may be scope for more creative programming from time to time. We are first and foremost looking for someone who will thrive in a world of commercial first-run bookings, but if you can offer wider programming skills and interests as well, then that’s a bonus.

The role will involve selecting, booking, and scheduling films for our partner cinemas. You will also be responsible for a range of data processing, data entry, film delivery, and other admin & support tasks associated with delivering cinema programmes. Maintaining strong relationships with our cinema partners, and ensuring that we achieve the best possible result for each of them, is at the core of the role.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, hard-working, careful, patient, conscientious, and detail-oriented. A long-standing interest in movies is essential, as is a natural ability to build interpersonal relationships. You will have prior experience in film exhibition or distribution. Direct experience in programming and bookings is a plus. The successful candidate will be someone who aspires to a career in film programming.

The role is part-time for 24 hours a week, based in our Summerhall office in Edinburgh.

How to apply

To apply, please send your CV to Mark Tweddle (mark@indycinemagroup.com) and include a short covering letter saying why you think you would be a good fit for the role. Feel free to get in touch prior to applying if you’d like more information about the role or about our company.

The deadline for applications is Friday 7th July and interviews will take place in the week commencing Monday 17th July. We are keen for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible thereafter.
