The BFI are looking for volunteers to assist in the delivery of their upcoming Film on Film Festival in June.

About the BFI Film on Film Festival

BFI Film on Film Festival is a brand new film festival to take place at BFI Southbank, 8 to 11 June 2023 and the first film festival in the UK wholly dedicated to screen works solely on film, spanning film formats including 16mm, 35mm and 70mm as well as rare nitrate. BFI Film on Film Festival celebrates this materiality of film, recognizing the uniqueness of film as a physical medium and will comprise of screenings of new and vintage film prints, programmed by the BFI National Archive’s curators from the national collection, giving audiences access to work held in the BFI National Archive which can only be seen on film and which would otherwise never been seen.

About the role

Volunteers are an essential and valued part of the festival team and BFI Film on Film is not possible without the support of volunteers, who generously dedicate their time and commitment. This a great opportunity to gain experience working on a film festival, enjoy access to BFI Film on Film events and films, and immerse yourself in the world of Film on Film!

We are seeking volunteers with excellent communication skills, a friendly manner and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels to assist in all areas of the Festival including hospitality, meeting and greeting guests, signposting, providing support and information, and supporting on special events. A passion for film on film and some prior event or administrative experience is a bonus but not essential as we will provide opportunities to develop your skills and gain new experience.

Volunteers will be based at BFI Southbank (nearest station is Waterloo). Working hours and duties will be discussed and agreed with the Events Coordinators following selection process. You will be expected to commit to a minimum of two shifts during the festival. In return for your time we will provide an allowance for travel and food, plus a chance to enjoy the festival itself.
