Film Hub Scotland New Promoters
Film Hub Scotland
Various locations (Scotland)
Salary: £9.50 per hour
The FHS New Promoter scheme offers an exciting training opportunity for people who’d like to better understand how to programme films for audiences and gain experience in the Scottish exhibition sector – no industry work experience required, just a love of film!
About the scheme
These positions are offered at 2 days or 16 hours per week, at the Real Living Wage of £9.50ph.
The New Promoters scheme aims to increase the number of marginalised people programming films for cinemas, festivals and venues within Scotland. This includes those marginalised due to race, gender, sexuality, age, class, and disability. This comes from a recognition that these identities are not adequately represented within the Scottish screen industry.
This Scheme will be hosted by six organisations between July-November 2021. These are:
- Film Hub Scotland
- CCA Glasgow
- Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival
- Take One Action
- Africa in Motion
- Alchemy Film & Arts
Each candidate will work for one organisation but have the opportunity to meet and engage with others taking part in the scheme through workshops and social meetings (where possible). You will be supported to show films and create events, learn about distributor negotiations, screening formats, film transport, venue selection, audience development and how to create an effective marketing campaign.
In addition to this we will provide training from film industry experts in selecting and showing films, creating and running events, organising festivals and marketing.
These positions are offered at the Real Living Wage of £9.50 per hour. (NB. this may vary between organisations, to be discussed at interview.)
