Festivals Press Officer (BFI Flare)

The BFI is seeking a Festivals Press Officer to join the 2022 BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival on a fixed term basis.

Fixed Term Contract: January – 27 March 2022

Key responsibilities
  • Support the BFI Festival’s PR Manager on all activities facilitating the press and publicity campaign for the BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, in the lead up to and during the Festival itself.
  • To support the BFI Flare Press Team’s PR events, including press launches, ensuring venue logistics, invitations, etc. are smooth running and effective.
  • Oversee all aspects of BFI Flare Press Accreditation, to include press delegate invitations, application processing, compiling accreditation lists and ensuring all website systems are in place.
Experience & skills
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to turnaround press materials quickly and accurately, often taking complex ideas or scenarios and revealing news value
  • The ability to explain PR processes and approach to internal and external stakeholders, managing their expectations and influencing decision making
  • Diplomatic and persuasive, articulating verbal and written arguments effectively without alienating internal clients

The ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekend work during the Festival, is essential to the role.
