Screen25 is seeking an Events Manager to oversee the setup and running of our events and provide front-of-house support where necessary.

Screen25 is an independent cinema in the heart of the South Norwood community. We offer a welcoming space for local people to come together and enjoy the latest independent and mainstream films, enhanced by Q&As, panel discussions, shorts and much more!

Our Event Managers oversee the setup and running of our events and provide front-of-house support where necessary. The hours per shift are approximately 17.45 – 22.45.

Type: Part-time (approximately 20-30 hours per month)

Availability: Must be available Wednesday and/or Friday evenings, with occasional weekend availability.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing event setup and take-down; liaising with school caretakers and managing volunteers to ensure a swift and timely setup and de-rig of our cafe bar, auditorium and ticket desk at the beginning and end of each event.
  • Supervising front-of-house volunteers, implementing training on shift as necessary and providing front-of-house support where needed.
  • Taking responsibility for stock and money; cashing up at the end of a shift and ensuring that records are accurate and honest, products are sold correctly and cash and stock is stored in accordance with our insurance, security and safeguarding policies.
  • Liaising with the projectionist to ensure that content runs smoothly and has been tested in advance and that the programme runs to schedule.
  • Acting as the point of contact for partners and speakers; meeting and greeting, fulfilling specific setup needs and offering appropriate hospitality.
  • Introducing events, and acting as an ambassador for Screen25 both during and outside of shifts, promoting our values and ethics as a community cinema.
  • Ensuring events are run in accordance with the building’s fire regulations and that the safety of staff and customers is never compromised.
  • Maintaining standard to ensure that all work and customer areas are kept clean, tidy and void of any hazards or risks to health and safety. Reporting any damage to equipment or stock to Operations in a timely manner.
Person specfication

Essential:

  • Customer service experience within a cinema, retail or leisure environment;
  • Strong cash handling and numerical skills;
  • Strong communication skills, particularly when dealing with staff and customers;
  • IT / computer skills and ability to understand basic AV setups;
  • Team leading skills, with a natural ability to assert authority;
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure;
  • Professional presentation and attitude to work;
  • Reliable and punctual with excellent time-keeping skills;
  • Flexibility to work Wednesdays and/or Fridays, plus occasional weekends and additional days to be confirmed.

Desired:

  • Personal license;
  • First aid trained;
  • Bartending experience;
  • Front-of-house experience, in a cinema or theatre environment;
  • An interest and knowledge of film, including independent and foreign language film, documentaries etc.
