Encounters Film Festival Pre-Selectors

Encounters Film Festival have opened a call for pre-selectors for their 2023 edition of the festival.

Encounters Film Festival are looking for pre-selectors who will view and assess International and UK submissions for the 2023 edition of the festival. We are seeking committed individuals with an interest in short films, who are able to articulate their thoughts critically and engage perceptively with fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental/artists’ moving image works alike. Although previous experience in similar roles is not a requirement, we would expect applicants to have an understanding of the ecology of short films and festivals.

Pre-selectors will be expected to watch roughly 500 films from February 2023 to early June 2023. As submission numbers can fluctuate, a certain degree of flexibility is expected from interested applicants, who should commit to watch all the assigned entries in a pre-arranged specified timeframe. Pre-selectors will also be invited to participate in (online) monthly meetings to discuss their viewing with Encounters’ Head of Programme. Candidates can be based anywhere but we encourage individuals based in the South West of England to apply, especially if interested in previewing UK entries. There will be an introductory session in early February.

The fee is £550.
