Salary: £19,763 per annum

Barn Cinema is seeking a Duty Supervisor and Projectionist to deliver excellent duty supervision for the cinema staff and audiences, and the successful technical delivery of the film programme.

Main Reponsibilities:

  • Act as Duty Supervisor for the cinema during presentation, providing outstanding customer care to audiences, and overseeing the box office staff and front of house volunteers.
  • Maintain meaningful dialogue with team members and volunteer stewards to ensure they are engaged in their work and tasks contributing to their training and development.
  • Work closely with the Cinema Programmer and Projection team to ensure the provision of projection, cinema, technical and production services for all films and events that take place at the Barn Cinema.
  • Liaise with film distributors, cinema engineering providers and booking agents to ensure all content and resources are available to ensure the effective delivery of the Barn Cinema programme.
  • Lead the effective operation of the projection room and the projection team, from print logistics through to screening to ensure efficient delivery of the film programme.
  • Liaise with the technical and production staff to ensure projection room equipment is maintained with an up to date inventory, ensuring safe keeping/storage, maintenance and renewal with best value solutions.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the cinema activities are conducted within current Health & Safety legislation, Fire Safety and in accordance with the Premises Licensing Act (Cinema) and the British Board of Film Censors guidelines ratings.

  • Industry experience in operating a digital cinema and the technical knowledge to maintain all equipment.
  • Excellent customer service towards all internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrable commitment to film presentation of the highest quality.
  • An understanding of the practices of working successfully with volunteers.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Industry knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and Workplace Safety practices.
  • Leadership through creative problem solving, a positive can do attitude and a willingness and desire to ensure all who come into contact with Dartington have the best possible experience.
