Wellington Orbit seeks to employ two Duty Managers on contracts of 8 / 12 / 16 hours per week, on a permanent basis.

About the Role

We seek two Duty Managers to smoothly manage the operating of our venue in the absence of the General Manager. You need to be reliable, calm under pressure, a practical problem solver and have excellent inter-personal skills. Our Duty Managers look after the welfare of the public, supervise other staff and volunteers and play a large part in the technical aspects of our business including assisting with digital cinema projection. Training will be given but you should be confident working with computers and other equipment.

The right candidate be well presented, possess excellent spoken and written communication skills, be very well organised and can work cheerfully during busy shifts. As you will be working with volunteers you will need to utilise diplomacy and tact and respect confidentiality. Understanding team dynamics and working well within a changing team with people of varying abilities and needs is essential.

Hours are usually worked as a shift from 1pm – 9.30pm/10pm, covering the operating hours of our cinema, arranged on a two-week rolling rota, agreed in advance in agreement with the Manager and the other Duty Manager(s). Shifts are usually around 8-8.5 hours in duration. Please indicate your usual daily availability to work between 10am to 10pm on your application form and whether you prefer a weekly contract of 8 hours (1 shift per week), 12 hours (3 shifts per fortnight), 16 hours (2 shifts per week) or are happy with any of these options. It is intended the two successful applicants hours together total 24 hours per week.

This role is offered on permanent contract basis. A six month probationary period is in place.

Pay is £10 per hour, paid monthly as a salary (FTE is £19,500 per annum). Paid overtime to provide cover is available.

The place of work is Wellington Orbit, 1 Station Road, Wellington, Telford, TF1 1BY. The successful applicants will work with the General Manager and the other Duty Managers to ensure the success of the business via the day to day running of its operations.
