Newlyn Filmhouse are looking for a cinema enthusiast with a minimum of two year’s management experience to join our friendly team.

Permanent Part-Time, 25-30 hours per week

£15,600 – £18,700 per annum

Weekends and Evenings are essential

The role will involve the day to day running of the cinema and will require you to open and close the building throughout the week. From serving customers, ensuring the cinema runs smoothly to maintaining marketing information you will be involved in every aspect of running the cinema.

Full training will be provided but the correct candidate will need to be computer literate (word and excel knowledge is essential). Previous knowledge of Mailchimp and Hootesuite are preferable but not essential. Any prior experience with photography and social media would also be an advantage.

Key Duties

  • The day-to-day administration and management of all aspects of the Cinema when on duty at Newlyn Filmhouse including projection, programming, marketing, and front-of-house.
  • Opening the building as per duty rota, making sure Box Office is open at appointed time.
  • Ensuring a welcoming, efficient, friendly and positive experience for visitors, both to the building and via telephone enquiries.
  • Overseeing aspects of the daily running of the Cinema, including box office paperwork, responding to messages, general housekeeping maintenance, ushering duties inc. auditoria cleaning between screenings.
  • Maintaining all information in the back office as well as updating information that is displayed on the website
  • Ensuring the safety, security and wellbeing of the audience, visitors and staff during their time, applying the Health & Safety policy including fire safety procedures at all times.
  • Supporting the selection and programming of the Cinema’s film and events offer and maintaining a thorough knowledge of current and future films and events.
  • Maintaining marketing materials around the building – including posters and programme leaflets. Production of the weekly newsletter and social marketing posts.
  • Liaising with the Café Bar to ensure the smooth running and effective collaboration across both facilities.
  • Managing any temporary or permanent junior Box Office staff, as required.
  • Responsible for the end of day cash reconciliation for the Cinema and Café Bar operation.
  • Closing the building including checking all internal and external security of the premises ensuring all lights and equipment is switched off before leaving and having full knowledge of operating the burglar alarm.
