Picturehouse is looking for a passionate, focused and experienced Deputy General Manager to help lead our two iconic Brighton venues during an exciting period of rebuilding and change.

About Picturehouse

The Duke of York’s Picturehouse is the jewel in the crown of Brighton. As the oldest purpose-built and continuously operated venue in the UK, and adorned with giant Can-can legs on its roof, our one-screen venue is a well-loved icon at the heart of the local community.

The younger, more contemporary sister to the historic Duke of York’s opened in December 2012. Duke’s at Komedia is a two-screen cinema and bar, with their very own set of Can-can legs situated in the quirky and vibrant North Laine neighbourhood.

In addition to a diverse programme of films, ranging from quality blockbusters to independent, classic, foreign-language and art-house, The Duke of York’s and Duke’s at Komedia includes a core programming strand dedicated to championing documentaries. The cinema also shows live HD broadcasts of productions from world-class arts venues, such as the New York Metropolitan Opera and the Bolshoi Ballet, theatre productions such as the Royal Shakespeare Company Live from Stratford-upon-Avon and National Theatre Live, art exhibitions and filmmaker Q&As. The Duke of York’s also screens selective 35mm presentations.

Vacancy

We are looking for a passionate, focused and experienced Deputy General Manager to help lead our two iconic Brighton venues during an exciting period of rebuilding and change.

Please note there is a requirement to work full time hours per week over any of the seven days with regular work at evenings and weekends.

Location

This role is based in Brighton, working across both the Duke of York’s and Duke’s at Komedia Picturehouse Venues, located on Preston Street in the London Road area of the city, and Gardner Street in the North Laine.
