Salary: £36,024 - £42,570 per annum

The BFI is seeking a Database Administrator who will maintain the day-to-day operations of the current configuration of BFI’s production databases, ensuring the portfolio of business applications are supported and available to internal business users.

You will be responsible for:

  • monitoring performance of databases that support the BFI’s business applications
  • Ensure that maintenance, backup and disaster recovery plans are in place and adhered to
  • Alongside the Applications Systems Manager, ensure any database development tasks are managed and scheduled, ensuring delivery within agreed timescales and budget
  • Work with the IT Infrastructure Team to ensure that the associated hardware resources are allocated to the databases

You will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in administering and managing SQl/Oracle database platforms with exposure to other databases and of working with hybrid of third party application suppliers and in-house database platforms
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery options and experience with their implementations (log shipping, mirroring, clustering always on availability groups)
  • Systematic and structured approach to problem-solving, excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
