Into Film is looking for a Curation Officer to research and secure film content for the Into Film programme and contribute to the production of associated editorial content.

About Into Film

Into Film is an education charity that puts film at the heart of children and young people’s educational, cultural and personal development.  Over half of UK schools engage with our programme of film clubs, special cinema screenings, and resources and training to support classroom teaching.  Alongside rich online content for young audiences, this provides 5-19 year olds with inspiring opportunities to learn about and with film, and develop a passion for cinema.

Role Summary

The main function of a temporary Curation Officer is to research and secure film content for the Into Film programme and contribute to the production of associated editorial content. Working to Into Film’s programming policy and Audience Development Strategy, the Curation Officer will help curate and programme content that acknowledges and celebrates the most popular, current mainstream films, through to key titles in film history, via world, independent and archive cinema. Alongside this work the Curation Officer (Temporary) will contribute to the production of editorial content for Into Film’s websites, partners and stakeholders, and support the Curation Team’s administrative needs in terms of catalogue maintenance and New Release activity.

  • Hours: Full time (35hrs/week)
  • Contract: Fixed term, 6 months
  • Salary: £24,000 -£28,000
  • Based: UK Wide – COVID-19 remote
Person specification

At least one year experience of working in a film exhibition environment. An understanding of the educational value of film and the ability to communicate this to educators, young people, the film industry and the Into Film team. Good knowledge of the film industry, specifically the roles and operations of distributors, festivals and cultural organisations. A broad knowledge of film, including British, Specialised and Heritage film. Experience of writing about film, ideally for 5-19 year olds and educators.

Due to short them contract duration we are looking for a candidate who ideally could be available immediately.
