Cinema Technician

Salary: £13 per hour

The Electric Cinema Portobello, a beautiful, turn of the 20th century cinema, one of the oldest working cinemas in the UK, is looking for a full time technician. Located at the heart of infamous Portobello Road, the Electric Portobello is a magnet for tourists, locals and cinema-lovers alike.

The Electric Cinema Portobello is a single screen cinema with 83 seats, a bespoke mechanical screen, lustrous red interiors and a fully-licensed bar in the auditorium. The Electric enjoys a large loyal clientele who appreciate the intimacy and comfort that our cinema offers. Equally popular for private hire, our cinemas’ clients range from advertising agencies to city companies with screenings for press launches or corporate entertaining to birthdays and filmmakers’ rushes, including distributors screenings.

The Electric Cinema Portobello is fully digital with 3D and satellite capabilities; as such the position requires a wide range of skills including knowledge and experience in all forms of film and video formats; AV/IT knowledge and experience is preferred as well as the ability to work with different computer systems and processes.

Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years technical cinema experience and be able to work well within a team, flexible and with a readiness to be completely hands-on. Candidates will be required to work 40 hours a week at a rate of £13/hour, weekend work included, and be flexible to work across other Soho House & Co sites like the Electric Cinema Shoreditch and Soho House 76 Dean Street.
