Cinema Marketing Officer

National Science and Media Museum

Salary: £21,000 per annum

Bradford’s National Science and Media Museum is looking for a Cinema Marketing Officer to lead on the marketing of our in-house Cinema operations on a full-time basis for an 18-month contract.

Are you an experienced marketer who can write effective and engaging copy? Are you interested in contributing to the success of an independent cinema operation?

Bradford’s National Science and Media Museum, part of the Science Museum Group (SMG), houses Pictureville, a 3-screen cinema operation which includes Europe’s first IMAX. Our Pictureville cinema (300 seats) and Cubby Broccoli cinema (100 seats) screen the best of independent cinema with selected mainstream titles and a Screen Arts programme. Our IMAX (218 seats) screens the best feature titles available in IMAX format and a regular programme of shorter educational IMAX films for families and pre-booked groups.

To ensure our Cinema operations are marketed effectively and reach new audiences, we are now looking for a Cinema Marketing Officer to lead on the marketing of our in-house Cinema operations on a full-time basis for an 18-month contract.

About the role

In this role, you’ll make a significant contribution to the commercial success of the cinema operation by planning campaigns to promote the Museum’s cinema programme as well as providing and responding to sales analysis. You’ll design email communications, social media and digital marketing campaigns for the cinema business, implementing strategies which make the best use of our CRM system. You’ll also help grow our loyal and important cinema membership base, and develop relationships with community groups who use our cinemas as well as distributors.

Joining us, you will have relevant experience in a marketing role, with experience delivering fully integrated marketing campaigns. You’ll be a strong communicator with the ability to write effective, interesting and persuasive copy. You’ll be comfortable working with colleagues and stakeholders across all levels and will have a positive and solutions-focussed approach. This is a busy role, and as such, you will need excellent organisational skills with an ability to manage conflicting deadlines.

You will have the opportunity to develop your career in a world-class museum group.  We know work/life balance and wellbeing is crucial to our colleagues, so we currently offer up to 25 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays; employee assistance programme; enhanced contributory pension; enhanced occupational sick, maternity, paternity and adoption leave and career breaks.

‘Open for All’ is one of the Science Museum Group’s five core values and sets out our important aspiration to be a place for everyone. As a national museum group, we have an ability to reach a wide and diverse population of audiences, colleagues and partners through our geography and scale.

We are working hard to understand our organisation better and to foster a culture that recognises and values different backgrounds, mindsets, skills, experience, knowledge and expertise. By having greater diversity, we believe that we will be a stronger and better organisation and ultimately will be able to inspire more futures. We therefore welcome applications from those who bring difference.
