Now in its 16th year, Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival (BFMAF) continues to strengthen its commitment in presenting an artistically ambitious festival of artists’ moving image and new cinema; developing its regional, national and international audiences; delivering a programme which is inspired by and animates Berwick and its surroundings; ensuring that the Festival is engaging and accessible for all audience members.

Recognised for its innovative programme and critical engagement, BFMAF presents artists’ and filmmakers’ work in the cinema as well as expanded formats of exhibition and performance during its dynamic and generative autumn festival, continuing in year round programmes with foci on artists’ professional development, young people and collaborative projects with local and international peers.

The 16th Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival will take place from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 September 2020.

BFMAF is a registered charity and Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation with continuing support from the British Film Institute, Community Foundation, Northumberland County Council and Berwick-upon-Tweed Town Council.

We are looking for two additional board members with a passion and enthusiasm for cinema and the visual arts. As a board member of BFMAF, you will play a key role in the governance and strategic direction of the Festival.

We welcome all applicants but are particularly looking to appoint members with experience in any of the following areas:

  • Filmmakers and artists with a moving image based practice
  • Festivals, Film Production and Distribution
  • Finance, legal and HR
  • Community development and collaborative ways of working
  • Audience development and analysis
  • Cultural management: fundraising, development and organisational change
  • Advocacy for equality, access and representational shifts

The Festival particularly welcomes applications from women, people under the age of 40, people of colour, individuals from ethnic minority or low-income backgrounds, disabled people, those who identify as LGBTQ+, and who are currently underrepresented in senior management roles in the UK’s cinema and visual arts sectors.
