BFI Film Academy Young Programmers 2022/23

Salary: £11.05 per hour

The BFI is looking for 10 Young Programmers aged between 16 to 25 to help shape and promote the BFI Film Academy events programme 2022/23.

The role incorporates previewing film submissions for BFI Future Film Festival 2023, programming and hosting events online and in venue at the BFI Southbank in London, generating marketing and editorial content, and generally acting as the face of BFI Film Academy events!

Our Young Programmers will enjoy being part of a team that helps aspiring filmmakers showcase their films to diverse audiences across the UK and internationally. After two very successful Young Programmers schemes, we’re really excited to open up recruitment once more to include a wide range of voices and perspectives.

About BFI Film Academy

BFI Film Academy provides opportunities for young creatives aged 16 to 25 who want to learn about or work in film.

BFI Film Academy offers a range of accessible courses and resources, whether you want to take your first steps in film or improve on existing skills. We offer short courses, specialist programmes and placement opportunities, where you’ll gain experience working alongside industry professionals and will be offered hands-on filmmaking experience to help develop practical knowledge and skills.

About You

We’re seeking individuals from a range of backgrounds who are interested in developing their programming, hosting and marketing skills.

Key requirements include (full requirements can be found in the role description):

  • Applicants must be aged between 16 and 25. We are looking to engage applicant across this age bracket, so this year we will be seeking individuals in 3 cohorts (those aged between 16–18, 19-22 and 23-25).
  • Be predominately based in the UK for the length of the agreement
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Be passionate about film and curating programmes for young people
  • Be confident speaking in public or hosting an online event
  • Have some experience in film festivals, film programming, filmmaking, writing about film, film marketing, or similar
Location

Online and in-venue, if and when possible. We’re looking for Young Programmers from all over the UK, so don’t worry if you’re not in London – it’s absolutely not a deal breaker!
