Open City Documentary Festival is currently looking for a Coordinator to join the team delivering Assembly, a new development lab for creative documentaries which will take place in September 2019.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assist with shortlisting process for projects including collating materials and tracking comments from selection committee
  • Act as liaison with the selected filmmakers attending the lab for all logistics in advance and during the workshop and festival
  • Support Delegate Services Manager with booking travel, accommodation, airport transfers and accreditation for attending filmmakers
  • Assist with collation of materials for the Assembly booklet and liaising with designers
  • Lead on production of the four-day workshop (31st August – 3rd September) including venue hire, technical support, running sheets and catering
  • Assist with the content of the workshop programme including researching mentors and speakers, sending speaker invites and collating all relevant materials
  • Support delivery of the workshop, overseeing an event producer to ensure smooth running of all events across the four days
  • Assist with delivery of all networking and social events associated with Assembly including dinners during the workshop and a drinks reception during Open City Documentary Festival
  • Produce and deliver the Assembly closed pitch during Open City Documentary Festival including briefing judges, working with technical manager and event producing on the day
  • Assist with any other relevant tasks related to Assembly
  • Evaluation/debrief, thank you’s and tidy-up paperwork in week after festival
  • To be an ambassador for Assembly and Open City Documentary Festival at any events attended

Person specification

  • Experience working in festivals/events ideally with a background in industry focused events or development projects
  • A keen interest in creative documentary with the ability to engage with current non-fiction practices
  • Excellent time management skills with great communication and ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Attention to detail with both admin and creative tasks
