Alternate Realities Programme Volunteers

Sheffield DocFest

Sheffield

Salary: Voluntary

Sheffield DocFest is looking for volunteers to support its Alternate Realities programme of immersive documentary, spanning many platforms including Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality.

Sheffield DocFest is the UK’s leading documentary festival and one of the world’s most influential markets for documentary projects. We champion and present the breadth of documentary form – film, television, and immersive art – in the vibrant city of Sheffield each June. Alternate Realities is Sheffield DocFest’s programme for exhibiting and showcasing innovative non-fiction and immersive documentary in all forms. We are looking for volunteers to help make the AR programme a success! This will be a great way to gain valuable experience supporting one of the world’s leading documentary film festivals, and an opportunity to build your network, develop your skills, and enjoy some of the varied festival programme for free.

AR Exhibition Crew volunteers will be helping our Alternate Realities team and digital artists bring their projects to life, before, during and after the festival. This role will be particularly suited to those with an interest in working with visual artists, emerging technologies or art-handling. You will talk to visitors about the works as a point of contact for audience members, you will be dealing with industry-leading technology, learning exhibition floor plans, supporting each individual project and maintaining a safe, smooth and inquisitive environment.

This role requires no prior experience or qualifications. Volunteers at DocFest will have access to the festival programme, with opportunities to see films, talks, and events across the public programme for free, and attend exclusive industry sessions and parties. Volunteers are asked to provide their time for 2 shifts across the 6 day festival, with each shift having an average time of approximately 5-6 hours. Volunteers can choose their own shifts to suit their availability, and will not be asked to do more than they are comfortable with.

How to Apply

To apply, please fill out the form linked by the 5 May at 5pm. If you have any further questions, please get in contact with the Volunteers team at volunteer@sheffdocfest.com. The form should not take you longer than 10 minutes, and we will be in further contact after the deadline.
