A rebellious teenager goes in search of his birth mother and himself in Canadian director and screenwriter Bretten Hannam’s accomplished, acclaimed new drama Wildhood.

Lincoln (Phillip Lewitski), a two-spirit teenager of Mi’kmaw heritage, has grown up estranged from both his Indigenous community and his gender and sexual identities. Raised with his half-brother by an abusive father, Lincoln has been told his entire life that his Mi’kmaw birth mother is dead, but when he learns that may not be the case, he runs away. Embarking on a long journey, he meets Pasmay (Joshua Odjick), who embodies everything that Lincoln is struggling to hide within himself, and what began as a mission to track down his mother gradually becomes a voyage of self-discovery.

Sensitively performed and beautifully shot by cinematographer Guy Godfree in the Indigenous lands of Nova Scotia, Wildhood is a powerful and poignant coming-of-age story about love, community, and self-acceptance.
