De la calle

Dir: Gerardo Tort

90 mins

Luis Fernando Peña, Maya Zapata, Armando Hernández

Los Olvidados meets Amores Perros in this kinetic portrait of the dark life of children who have nothing, Mexico City ‘s street kids. Tort’s directorial debut employed real street children who bring a gritty authenticity to this highly cinematic adaptation of Jesus Gonzales Davila’s play. Orphaned 15 year old Rufino survives doing odd jobs – hauling slabs of meat and drugs across the city. When he steals drug money from the corrupt cop who runs the neighbourhood, he unleashes a maelstrom of violence.
