Julian (Vincent Lindon), a school teacher and his wife Lisa are living happily with their small son when their world is shattered by an unexpected visit from the police with an arrest warrant for murder. Lisa (Diane Kruger) is taken to prison for a crime she did not commit, and the film’s flashback structure details her husband’s increasing desperation to find a way to free her.
