Twelve men, including a policeman, a doctor and a murder suspect, drive through the dusk in search of a dead body buried deep in the Anatolian steppes. Unfolding over a night and a day, the events of the investigation are infused with insights into the banality of everyday life and meditations on human existence.

Part crime drama, part road trip, part study of human nature, at over two and a half hours the film is epic both in ambition and achievements.

Impressive cinematography effectively captures the vast rural and urban landscapes and the story-ridden faces of the motley cast of male characters.

With his sixth feature film Nuri Bilge Ceylan adds another exceptionally handsome and perceptive film to a body of work that includes UzakClimates and Three Monkeys.
